SIX VILLAGES. ONE IDENTITY. ONE GOLDEN THREAD.
Den Gylne Linje is a location development platform owned by Indre Østfold Municipality. Six villages. One railway line. One shared identity to bring them together.
The Challenge
Indre Østfold Municipality had a problem that was also an opportunity. Six distinct villages, connected by the Østre railway line, each with their own character and community – but no shared identity to help residents and visitors understand what the region had to offer as a whole.
The municipality wanted a brand that could highlight the unique diversity of the region – its local food producers, outdoor experiences, cultural heritage and sustainable initiatives – while giving all six villages a common thread. The distance between them was part of the challenge. The railway line connecting them became the solution.
THE SOLUTION
The concept is the line itself – organic, flexible, playful and vibrant. It connects people with experiences, new impressions and golden moments, and it gave the identity both its name and its visual language.
The logo and visual identity were built around this idea. A system that could represent six distinct villages while feeling like one coherent brand – adaptable enough to work across signage, print, digital platforms and events, while remaining immediately recognisable wherever it appeared.
THE IMPACT
"The visual profile was unparalleled in relation to our values and objectives." — Therese Øijord Rustad, City Architect, Indre Østfold Municipality
Six villages. One identity. One golden thread that ties them all together.
"We were so impressed by how quickly you caught on to what The Golden Line should be, the qualities we wanted to highlight, and how you then presented exactly what we were looking for!"
